The Farm Cau was born about 35 years ago thanks to the dream of Domenico Cau, from Bonorva, at the time an economist for the Regione Sardegna, and of Domenica Roggio, from Monti, a teacher of History and Italian in Cagliari, to create a winery in Gallura.
The farm Cau is located at Limbara slopes, in the countryside of Monti, on the border of the territory of the municipality of Telti, just a short distance from the sea of Olbia, in the north-eastern Sardinia.
The zone can be considered as a relief of the granite complex of Gallura, with the tip of Elighe Entosu which is the highest peak close to the company fields.
The land falls on the south-eastern slope of the mountain, that starts from an altitude of 380 meters above sea level, reaching the 400 mt of heights. The orography of the area is typical of the landscape of Gallura, with interspersed valleys with granite boulders or rocky outcrops.
Farming is basically bounded to the production of Vermentino grapes, that grown in the vineyards surrounded by forests of Gallura and by the rich Mediterranean vegetation.
In the near future the activity of growing and processing grapes will be joined by hosting and degustation activities.
The grapes have been cultivated for a Superior Vermentino for which was chosen the name Poesis, by Domenica Roggio. That name is an homage to the affinity between wine and poetry.
